Moving away from the buoyant post-hardcore of their 2011 debut, LA’s Silver Snakes’ second full-length instead offers up the sort of murky, grunge-sodden melodies that will slide snugly into your ’90s alt-rock collection. But while it could have sounded all too familiar, they’ve struck gold with ‘Year Of The Snake’; an exquisitely dark and organic direction in which they skilfully balance their heavy and aggressive performance with haunting and heart-rending, folk-tinged songwriting. It’s an impressive and diverse 44-minutes highlighted more so by vocalist / guitarist Alex Estrada’s pained punk delivery at every bend.
The Powder Room
"ear-grabbing pop melodies under a thick, wet layer of sonic muck."
"Curtains is one of the best-sounding records to come out of Athens this or any year. Largely free of studio accoutrements, the album succeeds wildly in the group's stated mission of translating its formidable live presence to tape."
""Blowout" is a three-minute barnburner that wraps McClusky Do Dallas and In Utero in a great, big, sorta-suffocating bear hug."
"...successfully blending Nirvana’s grunge-punk fervor with gnarled grooves that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up."
"Recorded by Kyle Spence of Harvey Milk, it’s nine tracks deep of menacing hardcore and metal that occasionally splinters into a kind of abrasive shoegaze that’s somehow both ambient and aggressive."

Sons of Tonatiuh
Sons of Tonatiuh was conceived on 4/25/08 in a ditch by the side of a dirt road. The concept behind SOT consists of recognizing where we as a human race came from, what it means to be immortal, and how important it is to understand the history of the native world.
Here's the breakdown.... Sons of Tonatiuh is currently composed of Dan (ex-Leechmilk), Mike (ex-Fell A Victim), Darby (Noble Rust/Whiskey Shit Vomit), and Tim. Back in Aug of '08 Mike Longoria (Withered) recorded our first four song demo. In March of '09 SOT did a 1 week tour up the East coast and then in Sept of '09 we did a 2 week tour out to the West coast and back. Between March 13-15th of 2010, we recorded 8 songs over at the Jam Room in Columbia SC with Jay Matheson behind the slaying board. Limited pressing of 500 12" vinyl has been released as of May 2010. Message us here or email us at email@example.com for details. Sons of Tonatiuh plans on touring extensively so please keep an eye out for us in your town in the near future. As always, thanx for any and all support.
There is also a limited pressing of our first 7" which include the songs Chain up the Masses and Oracle for all those that wish to bask within the graces of Tonatiuh...
