Things are heating up in Atlanta, GA, for the second annual Atlanta Music Awards.
But don’t expect a pre-show strut down a red, green or white carpet when more than 700 music industry pros, bands, fans and groupies converge to celebrate local budding artists during a night free of blingtastic self-promotion and freak-show swaggering.
Atlanta Music Guide, Atlanta’s premier resource for concert dates, music news, band and venue information online, is hosting an evening to remember, focusing solely on the music and the awards, as the 2005 Atlanta Music Guide Awards take place on Saturday, September 17 beginning at 8:30 p.m. at The Loft at EarthLink Live.
The awards show will be hosted by emcee Josh "Open Mic Madman" Rifkind, who will roast and toast the 2005 nominees and the Atlanta music community while 2005 presenters such as 99X’s Jay Harren, 96Rock’s English Nick Parsons and Creative Loafing’s Tony Ware will finally reveal who the 60,000 Atlanta Music Guide readers voted as the winners of categories such as Best Local Rivalry, Most Catastrophic Gig, Best Publicity Stunt, and Luckiest Break, as well as Best Local Release, Best Front Person, Best Band, Most Buzzworthy (sponsored by Filter Magazine), Best Live Band, Best Producer and Turner South presents the My South Rocks Favorite Live Music Venue and this year's new awards for Most Supportive Person (or animal), 99X presents the Best New Band award and Best Manager.
