TICKET ALTERNATIVE RANKS NO. 2815 ON THE 2009 INC. 5000
Inc. Magazine Unveils Exclusive List of America's Fasting-Growing Private Companies
ATLANTA Inc. Magazine ranked Atlanta-based Ticket Alternative #2815 on its third annual Inc. 5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy - America's independent-minded entrepreneurs. With a company of only 13 employees, Ticket Alternative has experienced an astounding 101.4% growth between 2005 and 2008.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be recognized by Inc. Magazine through Inc. 5000 for our tremendous growth over the past couple of years,” says Ticket Alternative President and Co-Founder Iain Bluett. “We launched in 2004 and have really taken off here in Atlanta, at our ticket printing office in the UK and with our music and events based newsletters. I'd like to express our gratitude to our amazing clients. It's because of folks like The Earl, The Loft, Smith's Olde Bar, Hard Rock Café, Rock and Roll Hotel and Black Cat taking a chance on a new way of ticketing, that we were able to get to where we are today!”
The 2009 Inc. 5000 list, announced on August 12, 2009, serves as a unique report card on the U.S. economy. Despite the ongoing recession, aggregate revenue among the companies on the list actually increased to $214 billion, up $29 billion from last year. The Inc. 5000 are responsible for creating more than 1 million jobs since their founding, making the list perhaps the best example of the impact private, fast-growing companies can have on the economy. Atlanta ranks at the top of the charts as a metropolitan city with the most companies in the 2009 Inc. 5000, behind only New York, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles.
“Savvy trend spotters and those who invest in private companies know that the Inc. 5000 is the best place to find out about young companies that are achieving success through a wide variety of unprecedented business models…” said Inc. 5000 project manager Jim Melloan.
The Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2005 through 2008. Additionally, companies have to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent -- not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies -- as of December 31, 2008. Revenue in 2005 must have been at least $200,000, and revenue in 2008 must have been at least $2 million.
